Shema Power Lake Kivu Project (SPLK) and GasMeth Project

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Following the conference, delegates participating in the field excursion, as well as delegates arriving specifically for the excursion, will stay overnight at the Kigali Marriott Hotel in preparation for the next day’s visit.
Day 2: Kigali to SPLK (Rubavu)
Delegates will travel to Rubavu to visit Shema Power Lake Kivu (SPLK), a 56 MW methane-to-power plant located on the shores of Lake Kivu. Delegates will learn how methane gas is extracted offshore and transformed into electricity through advanced energy technologies.

SPLK Power engines
Following the site visit, delegates will enjoy lunch at Kigali Serena Hotel’s lakeside counterpart in Rubavu while taking in the stunning views of Lake Kivu.
After lunch in Rubavu, delegates will continue to Karongi for an overnight stay at Chateau Le Marara.
Day 2: Karongi
Delegates will visit GasMeth, a CNG (Compressed Natural Nagas), a project that will extract methane gas from lake kivu then compress it into CNG for cooking and transport.
Fees: US$850 per person
The cost will cover local transportation, meals, coffee breaks during travel, hotels, access to the excursion sites, and a guide.
