About the Conference
The East African Community (EAC) is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising eight (8) Partner States: the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the Republic of South Sudan, the Republic of Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania. With a combined population of over 300 million people, the EAC is committed to fostering regional integration to drive sustainable economic growth, industrialization, trade, investment, and improved livelihoods for the people of East Africa.
Recognizing the strategic role of energy in achieving these aspirations, the EAC Partner States continue to strengthen cooperation in the exploration, development, production, transportation, processing, and utilization of petroleum and other energy resources. Through harmonized policies, regional infrastructure development, and enhanced investment frameworks, the Community seeks to unlock East Africa's vast energy potential while supporting sustainable development and energy security.
Since 2003, the East African Community has organized the East African Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (EAPCE) every two years as the region's premier platform for promoting investment and showcasing opportunities in the petroleum sector. Over the years, EAPCE has evolved into one of Africa's leading petroleum industry events, bringing together governments, national and international oil companies, investors, development partners, financial institutions, researchers, academia, technology providers, service companies, and the media to discuss emerging opportunities and chart the future of the sector.
The Conference provides a high-level platform for technical knowledge sharing, policy dialogue, investment promotion, and business networking. Through technical presentations, panel discussions, exhibitions, and business engagements, participants gain valuable insights into exploration and production, fiscal and regulatory frameworks, infrastructure development, energy transition, digital innovation, investment opportunities, and petroleum revenue management across the East African region.
A unique feature of EAPCE is its field excursions, which provide delegates with first-hand exposure to selected petroleum, energy, and geological sites within the host country. These visits offer participants an opportunity to appreciate ongoing developments in the sector, technological advancements, the region's geological potential, and Rwanda's renowned tourism attractions.
The 12th East African Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (EAPCE'27) will be held at the Kigali Convention Centre (KCC), Kigali, Rwanda, from 9–11 March, 2027, under the theme: Unlocking the Hydrocarbon Potential of East Africa Rift Basins.
The Conference will be preceded by a Pre-Conference Workshop on 8 March 2027.
The Conference is expected to attract more than 1,500 delegates from East Africa and across the globe.
